Banner Printer Requirements

What is required for setting up Banner printers for printing Banner reports.

There are two different kinds of Banner printers.

  • Local Printer for printing from the Banner Application
    • This is a printer that can be locally attached or network attached to a user's workstation.
    • Printing is accomplished by clicking the "Print" icon while logged into Banner or choosing print from the "File" dropdown menu in the application. 
    • No action is required from support for this to work; it's just like printing a Microsoft Word Document.
  • Banner System Printer
    • Requires a network-enabled printer
    • Well-supported models are Lexmark and Kyocera (HP printers work about 50% of the time, all others at your own risk)
    • Used by going to a form in Banner, filling out information and selecting the "Banner System Printer" you want to use from the printer selection list.
    • Usually called three or four letter building name + room (coat499 or wall545)
    • Configured by Banner support folks to show up in the list of printers a user can see


Kyocera Copier/Printers and Banner

The new network printers and copiers around campus can be configured to use budget codes and "charge" print jobs to a specific budget code. If you need one of these printers configured to print as a "Banner System Printer", then we will need to know the budget code that you want all Banner print jobs to be charged to. We will work with the printer support folks from Kyocera to get your printer configured properly.

While these requests typically don't take very long to do, we allow about two days turnaround time to complete them.
