SPSS "invalid license type 26"

Problem Subject: Error # 7002. There appears to be a license for SPSS for Windows, but it is invalid. Specific symptom number: 26
Problem Description: I am attempting to launch SPSS for Windows, but I encounter the following errors:
The current license does not permit this job to continue.

There appears to be a license for SPSS for Windows, but it is invalid.

The software was licensed and working previously. What is the problem?

Resolution Description:
The SPSS Statistics licensing program has detected some change on your computer which has caused it to revoke your license for SPSS. This does not mean that your authorization code or right to use the product has been invalidated, only that the licensing system "believes" that an error has occurred.

The most common reason for this error is a change of date or time on the computer. Please check your date and time. If you date and time is incorrect, set them to the correct date and time, restart the computer and open SPSS.

The second most common reason for this errror due to permissions issues with the Windows Vista operating system. If you are using SPSS Statistics 15/16 on computer with the Windows Vista operating system, see section (7) below.

If (a) your date and time is correct and (b) you are not using SPSS Statistics 15/16 Windows Vista or (c) you have applied the procedure in section (7) that applies to Windows Vista computers but the error 7002 with specific symptom number 26 persists, proceed to the sections (4)-(6) (as applicable) to identify the next steps required to resolve this issue.

If your SPSS Statistics program is one of the following versions which includes an authorization code:
15.0.x Full version - Single User license
15.0.x Full version - Site license
15.0.x Full version - Network license
16.0.x Full version - Single User license
16.0.x Full version - Site license
16.0.x Full version - Network license
then contact SPSS Customer Service at 800-521-1337 or via email at service@spss.com. Include the error and symptom number, serial number and authorization code of your SPSS product when contacting SPSS Customer Service.

If your SPSS Statistics program is one of the following versions which includes an authorization code:
15.0.x Career Starter
15.0.x Faculty Pack
15.0.x Graduate Pack
15.0.x Student Version
16.0.x Career Starter
16.0.x Faculty Pack

then contact SPSS Technical Support at support@spss.com or 312-651-3410. Include the error and symptom number, serial number and authorization code of your SPSS product when contacting SPSS Technical Support.

If your SPSS Statistics program is one of the following versions that does *not* include an authorization code:
15.0.x Integrated Student Version
16.0.x Integrated Student Version
then contact SPSS Technical Support at support@spss.com or 312-651-3410. Include the error and symptom number and serial number of your SPSS product when contacting SPSS Technical Support.

Close all open windows.
Select Start.
Select Programs/All Program menu option.
Select the SPSSInc folder.
Select the folder that corresponds to the type of SPSS program you have installed.
Right-click on the SPSS program icon in your All Programs menu.
Select Properties (menu).
Select Compatibility (tab).
If "Run this program in compatibility mode for" is selected, remove it.
Locate the area labeled 'Privilege Level'.
Locate the dialog check-box locate 'Run this program as an administrator' (if available).
Select (place a check-mark in) 'Run this program as an administrator' (if available).
Select Apply (button).
Select 'Show settings for all users' (button).
If "Run this program in compatibility mode for" is selected, remove it.
Under the area labeled 'Privilege Level', locate 'Run this program as an administrator' (if available).
Select (place a check-mark in) 'Run this program as an administrator' (if available).
Select Apply (button).
Select OK (button).
Select OK (button).
The Properties window should now close.
Start your SPSS Statistics program.
If the error 7002 with specific symptom 26 persists, see section (3) above.
